Permanent full-time position Monday to Friday + Overtime

YOUR ROLE

As mechanic will report to the National Fleet Manager and be responsible for carrying out all general repairs and service, work on a variety of trucks, light and heavy vehicles and plants

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform thorough inspections and diagnostics to identify mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues in trucks, light and heavy vehicles, and plant equipment
  • Carry out maintenance services, including engine tune-ups, oil changes, and brake inspections, ensuring optimal performance and longevity
  • Overhaul and rebuild diesel engines, including dismantling, inspecting, repairing, and reassembling components
  • Maintain and repair hydraulic systems, pumps, and related equipment, ensuring functionality and safety standards
  • Ensure all repairs and maintenance meet safety regulations, manufacturer specifications, and industry standards
  • Work effectively within a team environment, assisting colleagues and supporting apprentices in developing their skills
  • Respond promptly to breakdowns and carry out on-site repairs to minimize downtime

IDEAL CANDIDATE

The ideal candidate is a qualified and experienced Heavy Diesel Mechanic with expertise in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining trucks, light/heavy vehicles, and plant equipment. They are skilled in hydraulic systems, diesel engines, and electrical systems, with a strong focus on safety and attention to detail. A problem-solver with excellent communication skills, they can work both independently and as part of a team

KEY REQUIREMENTS

  • Heavy Diesel Mechanic Trade Qualification
  • Truck or Trailer industry experience ideal
  • Heavy truck licence
  • Construction white card
  • Forklift licence
  • Strong communication skills
  • Commitment to Safety
