These projects have included civil road construction, installation of underground services, car park construction and bulk earthworks. Due to an increase in demand of their services, our client is looking for a Fitter / Welder to join their team.

Job Overview: We are seeking a skilled and experienced Fitter-Welder to join our clients team. The Fitter-Welder will be responsible for assembling, fitting, and welding metal components for various items of equipment, machinery, and quarry plant. This role requires a keen eye for detail, technical expertise, and the ability to work efficiently in a safety-conscious and team-oriented environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Welding: Perform welding operations on metal components using various welding techniques (MIG, TIG, Stick, etc.), ensuring high-quality and precise welds.
  • Fitting: Assemble and fit parts and components. This includes measuring, marking, and aligning parts for welding and assembly.
  • Fabrication: Fabricate and modify metal parts and machinery as needed, following engineering drawings and industry standards.
  • Maintenance: Maintain and repair welded and fitted components, performing troubleshooting and repairs as necessary.
  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety regulations, protocols, and PPE requirements. Ensure the work area is safe, clean, and organised.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with another fitter-welder, mechanics, and managers to ensure timely project completion.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of material usage and work completed.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Proven experience as a fitter-welder or similar role in industrial settings.
  • Proficient in various welding techniques (MIG, TIG, Stick) and fitting methods.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics.
  • Experience with welding and cutting equipment, power tools, and measuring instruments.
  • Good understanding of metal properties and welding codes and standards.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Knowledge of safety practices and regulations in a welding environment.
  • Physical stamina and the ability to work in challenging conditions.

Education and Certification:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Technical certifications in welding and/or fitting.
  • Additional specialist training in welding/fitting are highly desirable.

Work Environment:

  • The position may involve working in challenging environments such as construction and quarry sites.
  • Ability to work with heavy machinery and tools.
