About the role.

We have an exciting and rewarding support opportunity to share with you. Located in Villawood, you will be part of a 24/7 care team to supporting a male with a Spinal Cord Injury. You will provide full assistance personal cares, medication administration, meal preparation and feeding assistance, completion of transfers including, bed to commode and commode to wheelchair, with the use of a ceiling hoist and lifter, and many other duties. An extensive onboarding program will be provided with buddy shifts to help you with your transition.

Your key responsibilities

Our team is looking for a dedicated and passionate Disability Support Worker, who can undertake the following key responsibilities,

  • Personal Cares
  • Pressure area care and skin integrity support
  • Medication Administration
  • Bowel Care - including both enemas and suppositories
  • Suprapubic Catheter care and management
  • Meal preparation and feeding assistance
  • Dysphagia and aspiration management at mealtimes
  • Cough assist use and care
  • Non-Invasive ventilation care and management (BiPAP overnight)
  • Autonomic Dysreflexia management
  • Exercise and physio support
  • Completion of transfers including, bed to commode and commode to wheelchair, with the use of a ceiling hoist/ lifter.
  • Manual handling including repositioning, pushing/ pulling wheelchair, and commode within the client home.
  • General household tasks
  • Organisation of stock and ordering

About you.

To join the team, we are looking for the following skills and experience:

  • Certificate III in Individual Support or above (relevant care certificates may also be considered)
  • Experience with Spinal Cord Injuries
  • Specific Disability / Complex Care experience (minimum 2 years experience)
  • Manual handling certificate and experience (essential)
  • Current First aid and CPR
  • Yellow Card/NDIS Worker's Screening Check
  • NDIS Orientation Module
  • English Fluency - verbal and written
