About the role

We have an exciting and rewarded support opportunity to share with you. Drake Medox is seeking a fun, bubbly and hard-working support workers within the Glen Waverley area to support a female with a spinal cord Injury.

Our client in Glen Waverley has a spinal injury and requires experienced support workers to work a rotating roster on an ongoing basis from Mon-Fri 7am-12pm and 9pm-12am

Our client is very independent, however requires assistance in his physical day to day tasks and community access activities. Our ideal candidate will have proven experience with manual handling (hoist), assisting with medications, bowel care assistance, personal care, catheter care, full assistance with Activities of Daily Living.

Your positive attitude and passion for life will be the most important aspect of your role. The right candidates will be flexible and available to work on a rotaing roster.

Your key responsibilities

Our team is looking for a dedicated and passionate Disability Support Worker who can undertake the following key responsibilities:

  • Manual handling
  • Bowel care
  • Catheter care
  • Personal care
  • Medication administration
  • Pressure area management
  • Domestic assistance
  • Assisting and supporting the client in the home and out in the community access


About you

To join the team, we are looking for the following skills and experience:

  • Previous disability experience (minimum 2 years)
  • Minimum Cert III in Disability or other relevant qualifications
  • Manual handling experience (essential)
  • Personal care experience
  • Spinal cord injury experience
  • Bowel care experience
  • Current First aid and CPR
  • Yellow card/NDIS Screening Card
  • Manual handling certificate (or willing to obtain)
  • Medication certificate (or willing to obtain)
  • Valid Australian Driver's License

We are also looking for someone with great communication skills, who works well in a team, is quick learner who can follow instructions, has a caring and supportive nature, and is client-focused.
