Conveniently located in Melbourne Northwest, our client operates a state-of-the-art manufacturing plant designed to optimise workflow from the delivery and handling of raw materials through to production, quality control, and dispatch. Specialised in CNC Turning, CNC Milling, Welding and Precise Fabrication. They manufacture using metals of all types including steel, stainless steel, brass, copper, and titanium as well as in engineering plastics. Known for producing unique and efficiently crafted expertise in design, machine setup, and material knowledge that guides their production processes. Their consultative approach with clients ensures the continuous improvement of component and product designs.

What You'll Do

As a CNC Machinist/Programmer Setter, you will be responsible for programming, setting up, and operating CNC machines to maintain the highest quality and safety standards. Setting and loading of CNC machines when required. Your role will include record-keeping, maintaining equipment, and ensuring our production standards are consistently met across a wide range of product capabilities.

Your responsibilities:

  • Turned or milled components made to exact standards
  • Optimise production using metals of all types and engineering plastics
  • Move the final drawing stage ready to move production
  • Ability to operate multi-axis, multi-spindle machines ensuring the delivery of high-complexity components
  • Operate the 6 'Star' CNC Swiss-type sliding head machines, which specialize in producing challenging components with long and slender features.
  • Operating and programming Star, DMG Mori, Okuma, and Doosan machines, as well as Swiss-type machines
  • Achieve heavy-duty cutting, super-fast cutting speeds, optimum surface finishes, and high levels of dimensional accuracy.

Who We're Looking For:

  • CNC Machinist with a minimum of 5 years of trade Computer Numerical Control (CNC) experience
  • Strong accuracy, stability, and reliability those are key requirements of high-performance turning machinery.
  • Competent in the use of Manual Machining, CNC Machining, Fitting and Fabrication and precision Measuring tools, hand tools at an advanced level.
  • Ability to operate the horizontal and Vertical Milling machine
  • Strong ability to read and interpret mechanical documents and drawings.
  • Ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team.
  • Ability to make sound decisions to ensure compliant parts, safety and consistency
  • Comprehensive experience in CADCAM preferably SolidWorks and Solid Cam or other comparable systems.
