Our client is a leader in the packaging and recycling industry with advanced manufacturing operations. Based in Smithfield, this role offers stability, a highly supportive team, and an opportunity to grow within a state-of-the-art facility.

They are seeking a qualified Fitter Operator with strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on experience in high-speed manufacturing. The ideal candidate will be proactive in maintenance, reliable with shift work, and committed to safety and teamwork. A trade qualification and a solid background in industrial environments are essential.

💰 Pay Rate: $130,234 - increasing to $133,490 in August

📅 Roster: 7-day rotating (2 days, 2 nights, 4 off)

🕒 Shifts: 6am-6pm & 6pm-6am

📈 Hours: Avg. 42 hrs/week - consistent pay $59.63 (excludes overtime)

🔄 Extras: RDOs, shift work, and overtime opportunities

💼 OT Pay: Overtime paid above scheduled hours

🚨 Public Holidays: Penalty rates up to 3.5x base for worked PHs

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operation and maintenance of high-speed, automated FMCG machinery.
  • Preventative maintenance and mechanical troubleshooting.
  • Equipment overhauls and spare parts inventory management.
  • Accurate recording of maintenance and production data.
  • Upholding strict safety, health, and environmental standards.

Essential Requirements

  • Mechanical Trade Certificate (Plant Mechanic or similar qualification)
  • Proven experience in high-speed manufacturing or FMCG production environments
  • Proven ability to operate, maintain, and troubleshoot machinery
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team environment
  • Must be able to work a 7-day rotating roster (2 days, 2 nights, 4 off)
  • Commitment to health, safety, and environmental standards
