THE ROLE:

As a Doctor/Patient Liaison Coordinator, you will ensure the efficient coordination of patient care, facilitating clear communication between doctors, patients, and healthcare teams. You will manage patient admissions, assist with invoicing, and ensure all documentation is accurate and timely. Your role is essential in providing an outstanding patient experience while supporting the smooth operation of the clinic.

KEY TASKS:

  • Preparation of theatre lists
  • Providing patients with all relevant information relating to their hospital admission
  • Providing patients with fee quotations for medical and hospital services as appropriate
  • Ensuring all paperwork relating to theatre patients is received and in order
  • Invoicing surgical accounts and submitting to health funds/third parties as applicable
  • Receiving payments, receipting direct deposit payments against relevant invoices, collection of overdue accounts
  • Following up unpaid accounts with health funds and actioning to facilitate payment
  • Adhering to open and close checklists, ensuring the facility is appropriately secured and all equipment is shut down at the end of the day
  • Ensuring that the patient's non-clinical needs are met both before and after surgery
  • Communicating effectively with the Surgeons and with the nursing staff to assist in ensuring that patients' clinical needs are met
  • Communicating and liaising effectively with other members of the medical, nursing and clerical staff thereby contributing to the effective functioning of the Business

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Higher Certificate of Education (or Equivalent)
  • 2 years previous experience in a similar role in doctors' rooms or other equivalent health care environment
  • Knowledge of patient management system software
  • Knowledge of Windows Operating System
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (especially Word, Outlook, and Excel)
  • Experience with preparation of theatre lists
  • Knowledge of Medicare and Health Fund billing
