Garbage Truck Driver Operator

Full-Time | 38 Hours Per Week

What You'll Be Doing

  • Daily Operations: Collect, transport, and dispose of residential waste in line with performance standards and work method statements.
  • Vehicle Care: Perform routine maintenance, and daily safety checks, and ensure trucks are kept clean to reflect the service's professionalism.
  • Efficient Driving: Operate side-loader and other HR-class vehicles according to manufacturer guidelines, Transport NSW regulations, and safety standards.
  • Collaboration: Work independently with minimal supervision while communicating effectively with both customers and colleagues.
  • Support the Team: Step in to assist with other waste management vehicles when required, ensuring seamless service.

Essential Requirements

  • HR Driver's Licence (Class HR)
  • 3-5 Years Experience operating side-loader waste collection vehicles
  • Proven experience with various heavy vehicles requiring an HR licence
  • Ability to work independently and manage responsibilities with minimal supervision
  • Strong communication, numeracy, and customer service skills
  • Excellent conflict resolution abilities

Bonus Points (Desirable Skills)

  • Knowledge of truck operations and limitations during service
  • Familiarity with the local area for efficient route planning

  • Delivering timely and efficient residential waste collection that meets service standards
  • Reporting any breakdowns immediately to the Business Unit Coordinator
  • Keeping vehicles well-maintained and projecting a positive service image
  • Adhering to all relevant safety regulations and standards
