Are you an experienced and compassionate Registered Psychiatric Nurse seeking to make a real difference in acute mental health care?

Drake Medox, one of Australia's leading providers of complex health support services, is currently recruiting RPNs to join a high-performing mental health service team, delivering inpatient psychiatric care for adults experiencing acute mental illness.


About the Role

In this role, you'll work within a multidisciplinary team providing person-centred, trauma-informed, and recovery-oriented care to consumers during the acute phase of mental illness. Services are provided in a hospital-based inpatient setting, with patients who may be experiencing:

  • Schizophrenia

  • First-episode psychosis

  • Bipolar disorder

  • Severe personality disorder

  • Severe depression or anxiety

You will support consumers through comprehensive assessment, crisis stabilization, and short-term treatment, with the goal of enabling their safe transition to community-based care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver safe, evidence-based psychiatric nursing care in an inpatient setting

  • Conduct risk and mental state assessments; develop and review care plans

  • Collaborate with consumers, carers, and team members

  • Apply principles of Trauma-Informed Care, Safewards, and Recovery-Focused Practice

  • Participate in clinical reviews, education, and continuous improvement initiatives

  • Work within relevant legal and ethical frameworks, including the Mental Health and Wellbeing Act 2022

  • Engage in regular feedback and performance development processes


About You

You are a dedicated, client-focused nurse who thrives in a collaborative environment and has:

  • Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse (Division 1)

  • A qualification in Mental Health/Psychiatric Nursing or a nursing degree with relevant postgraduate qualification

  • Sound knowledge of current mental health legislation, standards, and practice models

  • Strong clinical skills in psychiatric assessment and acute care delivery

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

  • A commitment to ongoing learning, reflective practice, and ethical care


Desirable

  • Current Driver's Licence

  • Proficiency with digital health documentation

  • Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples or ACCHOs

  • Understanding of NSQHS Standards and ACMHN Competencies
