Drake Trades and Technical is currently seeking a highly skilled Industrial Electrician to join our client's team at a leading FMCG manufacturing site in Smithfield, NSW.

Responsibilities:

  • Electrical Maintenance: Perform routine and emergency electrical maintenance on production equipment and facility infrastructure to prevent and resolve issues such as power failures or machine breakdowns.
  • Troubleshooting: Diagnose and repair electrical problems in industrial equipment including motors, conveyors, and production machinery, ensuring minimal downtime.
  • Preventative Maintenance: Implement and adhere to scheduled maintenance plans to improve equipment reliability and lifespan. Regularly inspect and service electrical components and systems.
  • Installation and Upgrades: Install new electrical systems and upgrade existing configurations to enhance operational efficiency and safety. Work includes running electrical wiring, setting up control systems, and integrating new machinery into existing networks.
  • Safety Compliance: Ensure all work complies with the strictest safety standards and electrical codes. Conduct risk assessments and safety checks on all equipment.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of all maintenance work, repairs, and inspections for compliance and reporting purposes.
  • Facilities Maintenance: Oversee and conduct maintenance on facility electrical infrastructure, including lighting systems, power distribution, and emergency systems to ensure operational functionality and safety.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Work closely with the Team Leader to ensure effective problem resolution, communication, and maximum uptime of the plant.
  • Spare Parts Management: Manage sourcing, pricing, and requisitioning of spare parts as needed to ensure uninterrupted production.

Shifts and Working Conditions:

  • Shift Pattern: 12-hour shifts, following a 2 days on, 2 nights on, 4 days off pattern (6 AM-6 PM & 6 PM-6 AM).
  • Roster: 7-day rotating roster, providing ample overtime opportunities.

Qualifications and Experience:

Mandatory:

  • Proven experience in a high-speed manufacturing environment, preferably within the FMCG sector.
  • Trade qualifications and an A-grade electrical license.
  • Strong commitment to Health, Safety & Environmental standards.
  • High level of computer literacy.
  • Driven, with a 'just do it' attitude.

Desirable:

  • Previous experience in the beverage can manufacturing industry.
  • Knowledge of ISO, HACCP, GMP systems.
  • Licenses: Forklift, First Aid, EWP, Confined Space, High Voltage.
  • PLC programming and troubleshooting experience.
