About the Role:

Drake Medox is seeking for an experienced Registered Nurse to coordinate one of our homecare programs in Lilydale, VIC. Our client is a young girl living at home with a Spinal Cord Injury.

The key function of this role will be to coordinate the day-to-day and long term support needs of the client, requires supporting with allied health appointments, medical appointments especially at the RCH, and overall clinical oversight of the program to achieve personal independence on a casual basis. Our ideal candidate would receive client specific training with 15 approved hours per week and be present in the home at least 1-2 times per week even for a couple hours at a time.

Your key responsibilities:

  • Plan, coordinate and manage all attendant care support required by client with support from Drake Medox
  • Coordinate with other professional, technical and medical health specialist services as per the client's needs
  • Ensure all staff are trained to safely and competently meet the client's specific support requirements
  • Conduct training and assessment for all new staff, ensuring they are signed competent to work independently with client
  • Plan and review meetings with client, client's family, Drake Medox management team and others as required
  • Provide professional support for all attendant carers and ensure a safe working environment
  • Liaise with Drake Medox management team weekly and complete weekly summary reports

The successful applicant will partner with our National Clinical Coordinator to ensure success in the role.


The right candidate will need to meet the following criteria:

  • +6 month manual handling experience (using hoist machines and slings)
  • Experience with providing personal care - this includes Catheter management, bladder and bowel care and assistance with showering
  • Have knowledge of pressure area care and Autonomic Dysreflexia
  • Medication and behavioural management
  • Be proactive and a quick learner
  • Has a fun and bubbly personality and great sense of humour

About you:

  • Current AHPRA Registration
  • NDIS Workers Screening Clearance
  • Valid Australian Driver's License
  • Working with children check
  • Current First Aid and CPR Certificate
  • Experience in managing challenging or unacceptable behaviours
  • Sound understanding and demonstrated experience in community settings
  • Exposure to patients with spinal cord injuries, Autonomic Dysreflexia, catheters and bowel care management
  • Encompass a confident and approachable leadership style
