Reporting to the Engineering Manager at their Lucas Heights site you will mechanically construct, assemble, commission, and maintain novel laser isotope separation equipment and gas handling equipment.

Your responsibilities in this role will include:

  • Mechanically construct and assemble Laser Isotope Separation (LIS) and scientific process equipment as direction and designed documentation
  • Assembly of gas handling systems (GHS) and associated equipment
  • Various manual fabrication tasks such as drilling, machining, and welding as required
  • Aid in the commissioning of LIS & GHS equipment
  • Participate in design reviews and plant planning sessions
  • Aid in mechanical component design and documentation as required
  • Maintenance of LIS equipment
  • Maintain and safe and clean work environment
  • Proactive WHS member and adhere to the companies WHS, Environmental policies and procedures
  • General assistance to the Operations Manager, Mechanical Engineering Technician and others as required
  • Adhere to the company's security policies and procedures at all times

About You
To be considered for this role, you must possess.

  • Preferred Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical experience
  • 2+ years of previous experience within a relevant position
  • Experience with stainless steel TIG welding and manual machining (lathe, milling etc) (desirable)
  • Experience in the assembly and operating of gas handling and/or gas-based plant equipment (desirable)
  • High purity systems, scientific, high vacuum, or semiconductor systems experience (desirable)
  • Ability to read and understand 2D drawings
  • Attention to detail and fault finding with providing innovative and practical solutions
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office products including Outlook, Excel, and Word
  • Experience using 3D CAD software (desirable).
  • Must be an Australian Citizen due to a site requirement of an Australian National Security Clearance, this will be applied for by the company.
