About the role

We have an exciting and rewarded support opportunity to share with you. Located in Wahroonga, NSW you will be part of a care team to support a female with MND. You will provide support with Activities of Daily Living, as well as clinical support. Due to the nature and complexity of the client's needs, you will need to have relevant disability experience.

Your key responsibilities

Our team is looking for a dedicated and passionate Disability Support Worker who can undertake the following key responsibilities:

  • Assisting with mobility: Using hoists, transfer aids, or supporting gentle repositioning to prevent pressure sores and maintain comfort.

  • Personal hygiene: Helping with bathing, showering, oral care, toileting, continence care, and grooming.

  • Feeding support: Assisting with meals, including PEG (feeding tube) care if required, or adapting food for swallowing difficulties (dysphagia).

  • Dressing and undressing: Supporting appropriate clothing choices and dressing with sensitivity to physical limitations.

  • Monitoring skin integrity: Checking for signs of pressure areas or sores and reporting concerns to appropriate professionals.

  • Respiratory support: Assisting with non-invasive ventilation (e.g., BiPAP), suctioning, or airway clearance techniques, if trained and required.

  • Communication assistance: Supporting the use of communication aids, such as eye-gaze devices, voice apps, or written tools if speech is affected.

  • Medication support: Prompting or administering medication as per care plan and recording accurately.

  • Emotional and psychological support: Providing reassurance, companionship, and empathetic presence during emotionally challenging times.

  • Documentation: Keeping accurate records of care delivered, observations, and any changes in condition.


To join the team, we are looking for the following skills and experience:

  • Certificate III in Individual Support or above (Relevant care certificates may also be considered)
  • Specific Disability / Complex Care Experience (Minimum 1 year experience)
  • Manual handling certificate and experience  (Essential)
  • Yellow Card/NDIS Worker's Screening Check
  • NDIS Orientation Module
  • English Fluency - Verbal and Written
  • Current First Aid and CPR
  • Full NSW Driving Licence and Full Comprehensive Car Insurance
  • MND experience
