We are seeking an experienced Control Systems Engineer to take ownership of automation strategies and capital works at our Hebel plant, supporting performance improvements and driving equipment reliability.

Key Responsibilities

As the Control Systems Engineer, you will play a key role in driving automation strategies and managing capital projects to enhance equipment performance and reliability at our Somersby plant.

  • Lead end-to-end equipment installation and improvement projects - from concept through commissioning.
  • Design and implement automation and control system strategies across the Hebel plant.
  • Identify and resolve root causes of equipment failure, boosting equipment performance and reliability.
  • Develop, scope, and manage CAPEX projects (up to $5 million per occurrence).
  • Work cross-functionally with operations, maintenance, safety, and quality teams to deliver engineering solutions.
  • Lead the preventative and predictive maintenance strategy for automation systems.
  • Ensure compliance with plant regulations, Australian standards, and WHSE responsibilities.
  • Mentor and support site electricians and maintenance staff, particularly around breakdown response and diagnostics.
  • Manage technical relationships with key equipment vendors and service providers.

Your Profile

  • Degree qualified in Engineering - Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronic, Industrial or similar.
  • 7+ years' experience in automation engineering roles within a manufacturing or industrial setting.
  • Proven experience in program design and commissioning of highly automated production or concrete batching plants.
  • Strong background in PLC/SCADA systems and ability to design, build, and troubleshoot full plant architectures.
  • Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder management skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership of technical teams, with a hands-on and solution-focused mindset.
  • Strong project management and organisational skills; experience with CAD design highly regarded.
