Our client, part of a larger building products company, is a prominent manufacturer and supplier of building products across Australia and New Zealand. Their products range from plasterboard and insulation to glass, fibre cement, bricks, and roof tiles, serving both residential and commercial construction needs.

We are looking for an experienced Maintenance Fitter with a strong focus on continuous improvement to join our maintenance team. Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of factory machinery while supporting our commitment to operational excellence.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Perform preventative and breakdown maintenance on all mechanical machinery within the factory.
  • Collaborate with the maintenance team to analyze performance issues and develop and implement strategies to enhance production efficiency.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve faults to minimise downtime and improve operational effectiveness.
  • Assist in executing regular maintenance programs in accordance with established maintenance plans and standards.
  • Complete all relevant procedures and Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS) before commencing maintenance tasks.

Essential Criteria:

  • Strong technical background with a mechanical trade qualification.
  • Proven experience in a manufacturing or heavy industrial environment.
  • Excellent computer skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Hands-on attitude with robust problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Electrical disconnect/reconnect license preferred.
