About the role

We have an exciting and rewarding support opportunity to share with you. Located in Melbourne, you will be part of a 24/7 care team to Drake Medox are seeking enthusiastic and hard-working support workers for to do inactive sleepover with morning shifts 07:00-10:00AM and dinner shifts from 4:00-7:00PM for our client in St Albans.

Our client is living in St Albans with a complex spinal cord injury and requires additional support workers to join their team on a casual basis. Our ideal candidate would receive client specific training with stable, consistent hours. Due to the nature and complexity of the client's needs, you will need to have relevant disability experience. An extensive onboarding program will be provided with buddy shifts to help you with your transition.

Your key responsibilities

Our team is looking for a dedicated and passionate who can undertake the following key responsibilities:

  • Manual handling
  • Personal care
  • Continence management
  • Medication administration
  • Domestic assistance
  • Rehabilitation exercises
  • Have knowledge of Autonomic Dysreflexia
  • Experience in managing challenging or unacceptable behaviours
  • Bowel/bladder care this includes daily bowel care and SPC management
  • Light household duties & meal preparation

About you

To join the team, we are looking for the following skills and experience:

  • Previous disability experience (minimum 2 years)
  • Manual handling experience (essential)
  • Personal care experience
  • Current First aid and CPR
  • Yellow card/NDIS Screening Card
  • Manual handling certificate (or willing to obtain)
  • Medication certificate (or willing to obtain)

We are also looking for someone with great communication skills, who works well in a team, has a caring and supportive nature, and is client focused.
