Our client is seeking a Senior Engineer to take a leading role in generator commissioning, monitoring, and analysis. The successful candidate will ensure our client's strategies and objectives are met through the provision of recommendations for high voltage transmission system developments.

Working across the Network business unit, the Senior Engineer will author or review robust technical reports and procedures, coordinate and lead various generator connection projects, and streamline generator commissioning processes. This role also encompasses the development and implementation of power systems analysis strategies and plans for longer term network developments, with a particular emphasis on R2 model validation, work closely with other Network Service Providers and AEMO, and assess the feasibility of new solutions to optimise cost, risk and performance

The successful candidate can be based in Sydney or anywhere in Australia but will be required to travel to Sydney once a month.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Sound understanding of Electrical Engineering principles, NER, GPS, generator protection, SCADA, and experience in generation, transmission or a similar role.
  • Experience in testing and commissioning of synchronous and/or asynchronous generators, with a particular emphasis on GPS compliance and R2 model validation.
  • Lead investigations, studies and find solutions with the support from other stakeholders
  • Ability to perform R2 model validation, test plan review, HP test report review and other technical note review.
  • Review of generator commissioning processes, policies and guidelines to achieve improved team performance
  • Forms or reviews advice and recommendations on various technical enquiries and analysis
  • Authors or reviews concise and clear reports including reference documentation and provides presentations to stakeholders
  • Provides management timely and accurate briefings
  • Keeps abreast of changes in the National Electricity Market and relevant legislation and its impact on operations of the NSW HV network and business
  • Experience with PSS/E, PSCAD, PowerFactory software and power system modelling experience will be an advantage

Key Requirements:

  • Tertiary qualifications at degree level in Electrical Engineering or equivalent/ appropriate discipline.
  • Extensive experience in generator commissioning.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Comprehensive understanding of risk management.
  • Knowledge of electrical networks engineering and operations.
  • Well-developed people and service management skills.
  • Proven knowledge of the National Electricity Market.
  • Knowledge of quality assurance principles.

Desirable:Postgraduate qualifications in an appropriate discipline.
