Our client is a local council who are looking for Mechanics to assist with the mechanical operations of servicing and maintenance of all their site infrastructure assets and community waste services. Safety. They are looking for experienced mechanics to assist with the daily operational requirements. This role is Monday to Friday, for up to 6 months based in Narellan.

The Role:

Your role will be to provide servicing requirements as a mechanic on all vehicles, plant, trucks, and equipment. Safety knowledge and understanding is a key part of the role so expertise in this field is essential. Other tasks may include:

  • Carrying out maintenance and repairs
  • Tyre fitting
  • Driving of trucks around the yard (MR/HR licence required)
  • Undertaking Risk Management responsibilities
  • Implementing, monitoring, and complying with WHS Procedures onsite
  • Some customer service may be required
  • Admin tasks where required
  • General yard tasks

Essential Criteria:

  • Previous experience in mechanical repair of waste vehicles, compactors, heavy plant, trucks, and equipment
  • Experience in tyre fitting and repairs
  • Previous experience in driving Medium Rigid (MR) and Heavy Rigid (HR) trucks
  • Able to complete administrative tasks such as time keeping, keeping records and ordering parts and services
  • Welding Skills
  • Hold a Motor Vehicle Repair Industry Authority (MVRIA) Motor Mechanic Certificate
  • Completed a Certificate III in heavy vehicle repair
  • Hold a current Heavy Rigid (HR) drivers' licence
  • Hold a WHS General Induction for Construction Work Certificate
  • Desired experience in the repair of Hydraulic hoses and equipment
  • Other trades certificates in plant and truck repair works would be preferred but not essential
